Canadarm3 Industry Day

January 14, 2021

On January 14th, 2021, MDA joined the Canadian Space Agency (CSA), Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC), and Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) at the virtual Canadarm3 Information Session for Canadian industry and academia to present project details on Canada’s contribution to the NASA-led Gateway, a critical part of the Artemis Program that will take humanity back to the Moon to stay.

MDA is the Prime Contractor for the Canadarm3 program, the third generation of this iconic technology that will operate aboard Gateway, a deep space outpost that will orbit the Moon beginning in the mid-2020s, supporting both human and robotic missions to the lunar surface, serving as a science laboratory, and acting as a proving ground for exploration missions into deeper space.

With a strong focus on partnerships and collaboration, the webinar highlighted the Canadarm3 program and provided context for future partners to develop solutions that will take us further into space, and ultimately maximize the economic benefit to Canada.

“MDA is honoured to lead the Canadarm3 program execution, and takes the role of engaging with Canadian industry and leveraging the program to expand the Canadian space industry very seriously. Today was an important next step in engaging thousands of Canadians in the Canadarm3 journey,” said Mike Greenley, Chief Executive Officer of MDA.
