Partner. Build. Grow.

Collaboration is one of MDA’s core values, and key to our mission is making ambitions come true. This all comes together in MDA LaunchPad, where we partner with innovative businesses to build and grow.

“We created MDA LaunchPad to be a one-stop destination for collaborating on real-world challenges. As the national champion in the Canadian space sector, we prioritize our engagement with small and medium enterprises to build an industrial ecosystem that endures.”

LaunchPad update:

Canadarm3 Industry Day

On January 14th, 2021, MDA joined the Canadian Space Agency (CSA), Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC), and Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) at the virtual Canadarm3 Information Session for Canadian industry and academia to present project details on Canada’s contribution to the NASA-led Gateway, a critical part of the Artemis Program that will take humanity back to the Moon to stay. MDA is the Prime Contractor for the Canadarm3 program, the third generation of this iconic technology that will operate aboard Gateway, a deep space outpost that will orbit the Moon beginning in the mid-2020s, supporting both human and robotic missions to the lunar surface, serving as a science laboratory, and acting as a proving ground for exploration missions into deeper space. With a strong focus on partnerships and collaboration, the webinar highlighted the Canadarm3 program and provided context for future partners to develop solutions that will take us further into space, and ultimately maximize the economic benefit to Canada. “MDA is honoured to lead the Canadarm3 program execution, and takes the role of engaging with Canadian industry and leveraging the program to expand the Canadian space industry very seriously. Today was an important next step in engaging thousands of Canadians in the Canadarm3 journey,” said Mike Greenley, Chief Executive Officer of MDA. Please visit our Canadarm3 Value Proposition Questionnaire ( to indicate your interest in participating in this program, as well as your ideas or technologies that are applicable to the program. If you missed the webinar, our presentation is available upon request via Together, we will build Team Canada for Canadarm3!

Spotlight on a LaunchPad partner:

Burloak technologies

Burloak Technologies, a division of Samuel, Son & Co., Limited, and MDA announced on June 30, 2020, a five-year agreement to partner for additive manufactured parts and components for space-bound satellite antenna applications. Burloak and MDA will collaborate to optimize the design and manufacturability of a range of antenna technologies. The joint efforts accomplished to date by MDA and Burloak have led to an increased acceptance of additive manufactured parts for the harsh space environment, an outcome that will yield significant benefits to both partners. This partnership builds upon a collaboration that goes back already a couple of years and is an excellent example of the type of partnership MDA aims to develop with the LaunchPad program.
